EDUC 5661 - Foundational Knowledge of Literacy

Prerequisites:

Provides educators with background, depth of knowledge, and tools to teach language and literacy skills to K-12 students who struggle with reading.  Provides teachers with the skills needed to master the fundamentals of reading instruction – phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, writing, and language. Explores the difficulties that students face in learning to read and how teachers can use assessments to support student learning. Empowers teachers to differentiate their instruction to meet the varying needs of students in their classroom.
